Google’s Yellow Warning Boosts SEO Prospects

Google just got the idea of testing a “yellow warning label” aimed at page speed load (“Slow To Load”, as the feature is known) — with a focus on mobile, of course.

It’s like a yellow card in European football and US soccer.

All good on paper, and in reality as well. The project, currently at a beta stage for Android, is just as appealing as it may seem at a first glance — for Google, in particular.

Warnings

Google is good at blowing its own trumpet when it comes to big announcements, particularly when it’s a hot topic — i.e. algorithm development and search engine efficiency. But too often that comes only after the new feature is already launched, which means that websites that are slow to load had already been punished for some time.

Nothing new: at the beginning of the year Google issued a warning via Webmaster Tool (now Search Console) and also via email, covering the importance of mobile friendliness for websites — a few months ahead of its official announcement for mobile friendliness.

What’s New For SEO Agencies, Then?

The premise: the page speed load both for desktop and mobile is a key parameter that SEO experts should take into account as an important element for the rankings.

  • SEO will become an increasingly essential tool for the rankings (thumbs up!).
  • The page speed load will be more important, especially for mobile, since the web search is growing trough mobile and mobile consumers don’t like to waste their time.
  • Google is pushing harder its own products (Android mobile, Cloud, You Tube, Google Fiber and so forth), while customers must follow more closely Google’s guidelines to enjoy a fast internet experience and higher rankings.
